Get to Know Jamie
I'm Jamie Marler, and I'm running for Lynn Haven City Commissioner Seat 2. I was born and raised in Dade City, Florida, where I started my career running my family's collision business before answering a calling to serve as a law enforcement officer. I graduated as president of my police academy class, and after being injured in the line of duty, I realized it was time for a fresh start. In 2010, I moved to Bay County with my daughter, whom I raised on my own. While driving through Lynn Haven looking for a place to settle down, I looked at her and said, "This is home." We haven't looked back since.
In Bay County, I worked for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in invasive plant management until a catastrophic back injury in 2023 required emergency spinal surgery. That injury had a silver lining: it made me a stay-at-home dad and gave me the chance to serve the community we love once again. In 2017, I married the love of my life, Sarah Kirkland, whose family roots in Lynn Haven run deep, and in 2023 we welcomed our little boy. We're active members of St. Andrew Baptist Church, and I'm an avid outdoorsman who previously served on the board of our local National Wild Turkey Foundation chapter. You'll often find us on afternoon golf cart rides, showing our son around the best city there is.
I've followed Lynn Haven and Bay County politics closely since moving here, and I want my family to enjoy the same little city my wife grew up in. I want my son to always be proud that Lynn Haven is home and to carry on the generational roots we've built. I'm running because I want to be there for you: to listen to your concerns and ideas, and to work alongside my fellow commissioners, the city manager, and the Mayor as one united team. It's the people who make Lynn Haven so special, and I truly believe that by moving forward together, we can be even better.

As a former first responder, I'll make public safety my top priority, ensuring our police and fire departments have every tool they need to protect Lynn Haven. We're already one of the safest cities in Florida, with two-minute police and four-minute fire response times and a freshly reaccredited police department, and I'll work to keep it that way as we grow.
Growth is coming to the Panhandle, and Lynn Haven must be ready with great schools, housing, and top-notch water, roads, and public safety. The city's role is to prepare the infrastructure, not to compete with the private sector.
As a conservative, I believe lower taxes put more money in your pocket, and I'll run the leanest budget possible without hurting city business while focusing on safety, security, and infrastructure. My goal is a Lynn Haven with good schools and good careers, so my son and my future grandchildren can grow up, work, and stay right here at home.
